In Paris, we signed a new nuclear cooperation agreement with EDF
EDF organised the EDF European Nuclear Suppliers' Day in Paris at the beginning of June. More than 300 representatives of companies and organisations in the nuclear power sector from 15 European countries attended the event. The main theme of the two-day event was EDF's new nuclear projects in Europe with EPR and NUWARD SMR technologies and the participation of foreign companies in their implementation.
EDF is currently part of a tender for the construction of new nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic, in which it plans to use the model of cooperation from the construction of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant, where British companies are contributing 64 percent of the contract value.
EDF aims to achieve a similar or higher level of localisation in the Czech Republic. That is why new agreements were signed in Paris between EDF and key Czech companies, including ZAT. The agreements clarify the scope of possible deliveries and strengthen EDF's commitment to future cooperation.
The agreement was signed on behalf of our company by František Kural, Marketing and Sales Director of ZAT.
At the event, representatives of Czech companies presented their interest in participating in future EDF nuclear projects not only in the Czech Republic, but also throughout Europe. The French concern is counting on the involvement of Czech suppliers and estimates that up to 50 new nuclear reactors will need to be commissioned in order for Europe to meet its climate goals.
"We are well prepared to work with EDF on domestic and international projects in Europe and around the world. We passed EDF's demanding audit last spring and are listed as one of their qualified non-safety contractors, and we are also negotiating for qualification to supply safety systems. Since 2012, we have been supplying systems to EDF in cooperation with Framatome for the refurbishment of eight nuclear power plants in France," says Ivo Tichý, member of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of ZAT.
