Czech Power Industry Alliance signs memorandum with Westinghouse and Bechtel consortium
Representatives of the Czech Power Industry Alliance (CPIA), which brings together the largest Czech companies in the nuclear power industry, signed a memorandum on 30 January in Washington with a consortium of Westinghouse and Bechtel on mutual cooperation of the Czech industry in the completion of new nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic. "I expect that at least 70% of the work on this important project will be contracted to Czech companies," says David Durham, president of Westinghouse's power systems business.
The signing creates a working group to facilitate the participation of Czech companies in the deployment of up to four AP1000 reactors at the Dukovany and Temelín nuclear power plants. "We see the signing of this agreement as a very important step in the mutual cooperation of all parties involved," adds Josef Perlík, CPIA Executive Director.
František Kural, ZAT's marketing and sales director, was also part of the delegation. Our company is also a founding member of CPIA.
ZAT in the completion of the Dukovany NPP
ZAT has a significant position in the supply of control systems for nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic and worldwide. Our systems are deployed at all nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the Dukovany NPP is controlled by our system in more than 80 percent.
"We would like to supply about 60 percent of the volume of the NPP Dukovany Unit 5. We own one of the most advanced control systems in the nuclear power industry on the market, meeting the most demanding safety conditions according to the requirements of European regulators. We invest tens of millions of crowns annually in its development. Our SandRA control system is compatible with the technology of all three bidders, so we have a lot to offer the winner of the tender," says Ivo Tichý, Executive Director and member of the Board of Directors of ZAT.
The press release issued by Westinghouse was taken over by the oenergetice.cz website. A number of Czech news sites, such as idnes.cz, also wrote about the crucial involvement of Czech industry in the construction of the NPP.
