First milestone - we handed over the project documentation to Kozloduy NPP
Together with our partner company ES Group Europe s.r.o. we have implemented the first step towards the successful modernization of the RRCS system for controlling the control cartridges of the Kozloduy NPP - we have prepared and handed over the project documentation to the customer.
In March 2023, representatives of ZAT and Kozloduy NPP signed a contract for the upgrade of the RRCS system for controlling the control rods of the reactor of Units 5 and 6 of the Bulgarian nuclear power plant.
ES Group Europe is also an important partner of ZAT in the implementation of the contract, providing support at all stages of the project, including project management, communication with other subcontractors and documentation. All this is tailored to the specifics of the Bulgarian market and local conditions.
According to the nuclear power plant's staff, this is the largest contract for the supply of Czech equipment to a Bulgarian power plant in the last 20 years. "From our point of view, it is also a significant milestone. Bulgaria was the last place in the EU where the Czech control system has not been deployed on VVER plants. With this step, we have closed an imaginary circle and confirmed our top competence in the field of nuclear power in Europe," adds Ivo Tichý, Executive Director and member of the Board of Directors of ZAT.
The delivery of systems for Kozloduy NPP units 5 and 6 is spread over three years. Delivery for both units and installation with system recovery at Unit 6 will take place in 2025, at Unit 5 one year later.
For both companies, the project marks a significant milestone with the first deployment of the Czech control system at Kozloduy NPP.
