Our e-Health technology helps nursing home staff to care for clients

ZAT facilitates patient care in five nursing facilities with its new e-Health technology. "During the summer, in cooperation with the partner company Sensowatch, we installed an e-Health system for location and indoor climate monitoring from the SimONet platform in homes for the seniors in Prague, Havlíčková Brod and Teplice. The new innovative technology helps health professionals and service staff in the care of clients," says Roman Plavec, director of ZAT's Medical division.

As part of the pilot project, staff at four nursing homes and an Alzheimer center are familiarizing themselves with the new technology and learning to use its full potential.

The system for monitoring the position and indoor climate facilitates the work of the staff, especially during night shifts, when fewer nurses are on duty. For example, it can detect non-standard behavior of a patient or client and notify the nurse of their movement outside the bed. Thanks to the continuous operation of the systems, the staff can also extend the interval of regular rounds, thanks to which they can devote themselves to other, more necessary activities at that time.

The installation also includes the installation of an open/closed door detector in the rooms of clients or patients. Again, this is a safety control element in cases where a client suffering from, for example, Alzheimer's disease leaves the room in the middle of the night, to which the staff can immediately respond. The new system can also ensure monitoring of temperature, humidity, patient position (presence of a person in the guarded area and alerting staff), air quality (CO2, VOC), noise, light intensity and patient movement around the room.

"In all facilities where the eHealth system is installed, together with our partner Sensowatch, we have the ambition to connect most of the rooms to it and thus serve the entire nursing home. The system will not replace qualified nurses, but it can significantly help them to make care more comfortable and efficient for them and patients," adds Roman Plavec.

ZAT's SimONet platform used uses Internet of Things (IoT) technology. It contains both HW elements (sensors) and ready-made software solutions offering the evaluation of measured data, their visualization on PCs and mobile devices, or the sending of notifications, e.g. in the form of notifications. It is thus suitable for monitoring various objects and devices.
