We will supply eight AVR Safety regulators to the Temelín NPP
ZAT a.s. is a major supplier of control systems for nuclear, thermal, and hydro power plants of ČEZ a.s. We have recently signed a contract with the largest power producer in the Czech Republic for the supply of eight AVR Safety regulators for the excitation systems at the Temelín NPP in the value exceeding CZK 16 million. "The excitation systems, which include the AVR Safety regulator, are designed for emergency power supply to the primary circuit of the nuclear power plant. Their output, i.e. the size of the excitation current, ensures precise regulation of the stator voltage of the generator and other variables related to power generation," explains Karel Stočes, ZAT's marketing and sales director.
We launched the new AVR Safety product in 2020. The benefits for the customer are a compact solution, lower operating costs due to higher reliability, a long-life cycle of the regulator for at least fifteen years and easy migration in case of replacement of the existing regulator with fast commissioning. The excitation system including the excitation regulator meets the requirements of the relevant IEC and EN standards.
With the development of the AVR Safety regulator and its implementation to the operation of nuclear power plants, ZAT confirms its position as a qualified European supplier of nuclear technology to primary, secondary, and service parts of nuclear power plants worldwide. "Another opportunity for the implementation of excitation systems regulators are both operating and newly built nuclear blocks in the Czech Republic and abroad," adds Karel Stočes.
The contract will be implemented in eight partial steps. The first documentation part will be completed in July 2022. Deliveries and implementation for individual diesel generator excitation sets will take place between 2023 and 2025.
